Has anybody ever flown with an ah-so in your carry-on?

Title says it all—I’ll be flying domestically in the US in a few weeks, and I’d like to bring an ah-so to open a few bottles when I arrive. I know corkscrews are a problem in carry-on, but what about an ah-so? It wouldn’t make much sense to ban them, but a lack of logic has never stopped TSA before.

Thanks!

Chateau de Beaucastel question via /r/wine

Chateau de Beaucastel question

Hi all. First timer here. I recently had the 2014 Chateau de Beaucastel CDP at a restaurant and loved it. Went to my local shop to see if they had it and I found four bottles of the 2014 vintage sold at the 2015 price. I remembered seeing the 2014 be almost double the 2015. Am I crazy? Or did I luck out? I called some other stores to inquire and found that the 2010 was $119. Is that a deal too?

Rhône varietals for lean meats and vegetables? via /r/wine

Rhône varietals for lean meats and vegetables?

I’m looking for Rhône varietal suggestions for my diet.

I eat a lot of chicken breast, whitefish, salmon, vegetables, cheese, and what not. I try to avoid fatty sauces, lots of extra cooking oils, etc.

Which Rhône varietals should I look for to match an average meal? I ask this because I live somewhat close to Paso Robles and enjoy supporting the local wine Industry.

Recommendations for a Table/Everyday Wine? via /r/wine

Recommendations for a Table/Everyday Wine?

Hi r/wine,

I want to ask for recommendations for a (hopefully cheap) table or "every man's" wine.

From my limited understanding of wine, the concept of a table wine seems more a European idea. Is there an equivalent winemaker or category that would be easily available in North America?

My first guess would be something from Yellow Tail (idk how that is thought of in the wine community), but I would appreciate any suggestions you might have as well as the reasoning behind them. Thanks in advance.
