Varietals for a warm, summer outdoor wedding?
wedding is this summer in Vermont, ~140 guests.
the vendor has to buy direct from the distributor and will up-charge me similar to a restaurant so, unfortunately, they need to be relatively cheap bottles
Red (Cabernet Sauvignon) – can't go wrong with cab
White (Sauvignon Blanc) – crisp, refreshing
Sparkling (Prosecco vs. Rose ??) – here is where i could use some help. i am leaning Prosecco but i'm just not sure
thoughts? advice? specific, affordable brand recs.?

Why are old vine wines very good?
Drinking Luccarelli Old Vines Primitivo Di Manduria….a bit sweet at first then dries out. I am not in a developed country and this bottle set me back. But, what I recall from when I did live in the U.S., anything with old vine on it tasted good. Why is this?

I'm trying to find a gift for a fellow wine lover. Are there any must-read book on the subject? Something entertaining and informative. Perhaps a large format coffee table style volume. Any suggestions? Anything new i should consider?
