Question about tannat and your thoughts generally?
A few months ago I had a bottle of tannat at a friend's house which was absolutely awesome. It was the first time I'd tried the wine and I'm looking to get a few bottles this week. When browsing what's available I noticed a lot of the Madiran wines are blended with Cabernet franc and I was curious why this is? Is there something lacking in tannat that prompts winemakers to balance it with Cab franc?
Also curious what people think of the varietal/Madiran wines generally. Any recommendations?
