2017 vintage, crazy weather or is it always like this?
Since Spring I've been reading a lot about adverse weather throughout the world in the wine press – frost in the Loire & Champagne, south coast of England… wild fires in Chile and now the recent news of hail and tiny tornado in Beaujolais.
This is only my first year in the wine trade, and I'm curious to know if these stories about extreme weather are just what fills the time before vindage chat, or if it is especially bad this year?
What do they even talk about in better vintages?! Or is it usually worse than this and winemaking is just crueller than I thought.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.
