Santa Clara Valley AVA? via /r/wine

Santa Clara Valley AVA?

So I live close-ish to the Santa Clara Valley AVA and was thinking of making a day trip to a few wineries over there. Unfortunately, it's been difficult to get any sense of where to go — there does not seem to be much discussion anywhere of wines from this area. Now I know historically there is good reason for that, but I'm still curious as to what's over there. Does anyone have any idea what's worth checking out? Or even any thoughts on the Santa Clara Valley region in general; any discussion would be welcome!
